On Monday evening,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], beautiful young ladies dressed in pristine whites and handsome young bucks also nattily attired in summer whites milled around the courtyard of University of Toronto's Hart House,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], sipping cocktails and nibbling finger sandwiches. Those that could rouse themselves from the idyllic al fresco setting threw bocce balls,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], picked up a croquet mallet or opted for more exerting activity,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], like a potato sack race.
With the classic collegiate surroundings,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it had the look of the movie set for a prep school classic.
The event, titled The Society Cup,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], was hosted by Dempster and Amanda Blakley, two stylist's who helm the social club The Society. These two "culturites" bring together the city's young and restless for parties that are a mix of art, fashion,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], music and culture.
"We wanted to throw a cocktail party for our members and put a twist on it," said Dempster. "So we thought of an old-school garden party."
Old school it might have been,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but it was certainly not stuffy preppy.
The DJs for the evening (well,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], music came from their playlist) was the design duo from Greta Constantine,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong.
And judging from those who were hopping in the potato sack race, the matter of keeping those whites white was not a concern as the evening wore on. There was Tretorn sneakers to be won.
