Leeds United striker Davide Somma is set for his South Africa debut after being named in a 23-man squad to face USA next week.
The 25-year-old has been in prolific form for theEnglishChampionship side this season, netting six times in just brazil 2014 world cup soccer jerseys seven starts, while he also scored in his onlyLeague Cup appearance. The Johannesburg-born forward also qualifies to play for Italy due to family links, as well as the US, where he spent several years during his teens.
Somma, who moved to Elland Road in 2009 before having loan spells at Chesterfield and Lincoln, had already intimated that he wanted to play for Bafana Bafana and is now a near certainty for his debut in Cape Town next week after an injury to Katlego Mphela.
"We must not give Somma a heavy load in his first game," coach Pitso Mosimane said. "We don't expect much from him, but for him to understand the philosophy of the team."
Also in the squad for the annual Nelson Mandela Challenge is former Newcastle United midfielder Matthew Pattison - a combative player who is yet to play for his country of birth despite several previous call-ups. The 24-year-old has impressed for current side Mamelodi Sundowns over the past two seasons and was considered unlucky by many to have missed out on a http://www.indianmascots.com/wiea/education/wisconsin-court-of-Jerseys.html place in South Africa's World Cup 2014 world cup shirts squad.
Regular captain Aaron Mokoena of Portsmouth is rested for the game next Wednesday with Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar set to lead the team in his absence. Mosimane added: "Aaron is not injured, but we must give others a chance, especially since this is the friendly."
