WATERLOO, Ontario, May 14 () -- Netflix video streaming accounts for almost a third of peak downstream traffic in North America, a manufacturer of broadband technology says.A survey by Canadian company Sandvine found Netflix and YouTube together account for a full half of Internet traffic in North America.Netflix controlled 32.3 percent of downstream traffic during peak periods while YouTube accounted for 17.1 percent of peak downstream traffic, Sandvine reported in a release Tuesday.Globally, however, YouTube surpasses Netflix on fixed and mobile networks,[url=http://www.hotyoupro.com]The north face jackets cheap[/url], making the Google-owned video site "the leading source of Internet traffic in the entire world," Sandvine said."While watching a full-length movie, or a 22-minute sitcom, on a 4-inch smartphone screen may not be the ideal viewing experience for everyone, for many subscribers it is becoming a viable experience," Sandvine said.Sandvine said its report was based on data collected in a sampling from its customer base of 200 service providers worldwide. |
