Lockheed Martin man-portable Nemesis missile passes flight tests
ORLANDO,Christian Louboutin Black, Fla., April 16 () -- Lockheed Martin's new man-portable Nemesis missile was 3-for-3 during recent flight tests against targets at White Sands Missile Range, N.M.In two firing,Christian Louboutin Clearance, vertically launched missiles GPS navigation and semi-active laser seeker acquired and stuck targets at distances of nearly 5 miles and 7.4 miles. In the third test, the missile, using only GPS, struck a target about 300 yards away."Nemesis provides critical performance to forward-deployed troops in response to a stated warfighter capability gap," said Frank St. John, vice president of tactical missiles and combat maneuver systems at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control."Warfighters must be able to trust that the weapons they deploy will deliver the intended effects every time. Our 3-for-3 flight tests demonstrate the missile is reliable and lethal."The tube-launched Nemesis can be adapted for use from ground, maritime or airborne platforms and its user is able to select height of burst or point-detonation fusing options to "optimize lethality against enemy personnel, light armored vehicles and structures," Lockheed said.Lockheed has self-funded the weapon's development.
