Mystery customer orders SINCGARS radio kits from Exelis
FORT WAYNE, Ind., Sept. 13 () -- A $54 million contract for communications installation equipment has been given to Exelis by an unidentified international customer. The direct commercial contract includes Single Channel Ground and Airborne Communications System (SINCGARS) radio installation kits and training services to support the installation and integration of SINCGARS VHF radios across a broad range of customer vehicles.SINCGARS radios are designed to provide network data services in both mounted and dismounted configurations.Exelis has sold more than 600,000 SINCGARS radios. The new radio – a fifth-generation product -- is half the size of the original radio, contains integrated capability improvements and an encryption protocol. "With this order, we will provide a key international customer the ability to leverage their installed base of SINCGARS radios, expand the robust and reliable network that SINCGARS provides on the modern battlefield, louboutin shoes sale, and enhance their operational mission capability, christian louboutin pigalle," said Nick Bobay, president of the Exelis Night Vision and Tactical Communications Systems division. The number of kits to be delivered and other terms of the contract were not disclosed by Exelis.
