They began the evening 2 1/2 games out of the second wild card berth in the American League.New York went 4-6 on an extended road trip and now will play two series at home against San Francisco and Tampa Bay before ending the campaign with three contests in Houston.Toronto owned a 2-1 lead in the sixth when Gose hit a solo homer. It was the third long ball of his career and his second this season, the other one having been a grand slam on Sept. 10.Lind boosted the Toronto lead in the eighth with a three-run shot.Todd Redmond (4-2) went seven innings to claim the win, giving up a run on four hits with seven strikeouts.
