Three bands played Ipswich's Drum Monkey over 5th/6th May 2006 as the venue continues to try and put the town on the national gig circuit for up-and-coming acts,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
The Pistolas Four piece indie punk band The Pistolas brought a whirlwind of excitement from Norwich to Ipswich. Singer Simon darted about the stage sometimes braving it in the growing mosh of drunken lads where he would disappear for a few seconds,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], re-emerging each time to the safety of the stage where he would take his superior stance.

The band had an air of arrogance about them,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but they could afford it as the audience knew they were good. It only added to the sense that this is a band who will make it big.
Their tunes were catchy and memorable. And they certainly had their image sussed with female bassist Naomi giving them an individual image,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
The combination of male and female vocals worked well and gave them an individual sound as well as a distinctive look. The Pistolas performance in Ipswich will certainly be a memorable one - for them too,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. (IS)
The Pigeon DetectivesThe Pigeons kick-off Saturday night with songs that made the crowd go wild! The Pigeon Detectives are a five-piece from Leeds,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and despite their huge and obvious talent,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they enjoyed the smaller and more personal crowd.
They confessed to having the best looking bass player in the whole of the North of England,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]! This broke into light-hearted banter between the band and crowd.
They have a huge talent and their music rivals that of new bands like Arctic Monkeys and The Kooks. They had fabulous guitarist, an amazing drummer and plenty of microphone swinging to keep the crowd entertained.
They spoke to the audience teaching them lines of the song so they could join in,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. This made the crowd warm to them even more and got them the biggest cheer of the night,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
They finished on a high singing Not Sorry An amazing band and definitely one to keep an eye out for,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. (FM)
Good ShoesFollowing the PDs,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], London band Good Shoes had catchy indie tunes and an understated cool as if they were mildly unaware of the popularity of their band.

They seemed to really put their hearts into their performance and it seemed that they would not have it any other way,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. It is obvious they are working hard to live their dream with their Ipswich gig being just one of many scheduled in all corners of the country.
The four lads kept a friendly down-to-earth tone regularly taking the time to talk to the audience and introduce different songs,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. A few of their songs had a strange familiarity about them and a few shouts of I know this one could be heard from the audience,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
They were the kind of likeable songs that would be easily recognisable if heard again,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. So listen out for Good Shoes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. (IS)
