Mulberry Spring 2011Mega Post
If you follow me on twitter you would have read that I twisted my knee my very first day in New York city and had to sit most things out during fashion week. I got lucky in that Mulberry held their fashion show in the Soho House,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which was right across the street from my hotel. didn realize this at first but I knew I was close. I could barely put any pressure on my knee, but I figured that I would take a taxi down the street to the hotel, make it to the elevator, and then sit down. Well my taxi driver couldn figure out the address and I had no clue where I was going, so we drove around in circles around the block and I almost missed the show. 1:30 on the dot I got out of the taxi and breathlessly asked some men lounging outside where was the Soho House please? And they pointed to a door that was so graciously held open by a gentleman, who I realized was Scott Schuman I thanked him while dashing inside.
Some fashion shows are very minimalist and to the point,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], while others like Mulberry presentation are a feast for the eyes. Set on the rooftop of the Soho house, larger than life size paper dolls greeted you at the door with large tissue blossoms,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and floral pillows were piled on lounge chairs circling the roof top pool.
I was so happy with my view, because while while I watched the fashion show I could also ogle the front row. I blissed out from happiness because it contained Grace Coddington, the creative director of US Vogue.
With a theme of Grey Gardens meets The Secret Garden, vintage styles walked down in every shade of nude, from peach to biscuit, along with dusty rose and plum. fell quite hard for the pink double faced silk skirt above.
The hair and makeup was fantastic(redheads!),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which is no surprise seeing as they were done by Sam McKnight and Pat McGrath of dewy skin fame.
*sorry for the shaky iphone pic. I didn think I could carry my SLR camera without my knee giving out falling down on the runway. Not a good look.
Mulberry designer Emma Hill also sent down items in the most delicious electric blue. I literally gasped out loud when I saw this Bayswater. If there was ever a bag that looked good enough to lick, this would be it.
I blissed out from happiness again on the way out because I spotted Anna Dello Russo. I would have love to have met her, but I always reluctant to bother anyone, though Anna looks so friendly and fun! of friendly people, I rode the elevator down afterwards with US Elle Style Director Kate Lanphear, who has such a warm, down to earth personality. After facing a crush of people, I almost turned tail and left. Instead, though I rarely drink, I grabbed a glass of red and situated myself into a corner seat. Well, obviously the wine and I got along famously, as I wound up live tweeting from the party! It turned out to be a really fun night,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as I listened to Florence + the Machine and watched all the comings and goings. some people threw around egos and tried to force their way into the party,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], others took everything in stride. Jade Jagger, awesome in her own right and daughter of the legendary Mick Jagger, was asked to show her entry stamp. She took the time to flash it while smiling and joking with the security guards.
