GLITTERY evening shoes. That caught my attention when I was walking past footwear boutique Lewré Couture at The Gardens,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Mid Valley City in Kuala Lumpur recently. The stylish shoes on display - sling backs, pumps, stilettos,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], ankle-straps and strappy sandals in different heights ranging from darling kitten heels to four-inch stilettos - made my knees weak. Upon entering the newly opened 32.5sq m boutique, one cannot miss the sparkling fibre optic lights embellished with Swarovski crystals. The purple panelling (Lewré Couture's signature colour) also have embedded shimmering Swarovski crystals which resemble twinkling stars. Lewré (pronounced liew-ray) Couture offers exclusive and limited designer shoes crafted with exquisite details. Its managing director/founder,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Lewre Lew Foon Voon, says the boutique also offers made-to-order services for high-end customers who want shoes to match every occasion. "Women who want to 'stand out' at social events like parties, weddings and on the red carpet are our target market. Custom-made shoes are so much more comfortable as they are constructed according to one's feet. A good pair of shoes makes a big difference as it enables customers to dance and walk in confidence," says Lew. Lewré is also the first premium footwear brand in Malaysia using Swarovski crystals. "The endorsement has given us the platform to pursue high-end customers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], particularly socialites and celebrities," he adds. Lew is no stranger to the footwear scene. He established Lewré in 1997 after 10 years in the international market as an original equipment manufacturer. Lewré offers four ranges of shoes - Stylish Career, Chic, Dress and Simply Casual. Currently,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the shoes are sold in 22 countries in Asia,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Europe,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the Gulf region and South Africa. Lewré Couture is an extension of the brand and exclusively available at The Gardens and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. The made-to-order shoes comprise 38 designs in five premier colours - black, gold, silver, red and purple. "Black and purple are a must for fall while red symbolises strength and gives a sexy feel. Gold and silver are firmly embedded as prominent colours for the season,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," explains Lew. He pays close attention to the couture design range. According to him, the made-to-order shoes comprise mainly glamorous, sexy and chic designs. "Some shoes have a lot of Swarovski crystals and pearl embellishments,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and look very 'bling'. Others are simple couture shoes for those who don't like overpowering designs. Materials used include silk,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], satin, cowhide, calfskin and other exclusive material imported from Italy,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," Lew says, adding that it takes a fortnight to complete a pair of shoes. The shoes are priced between RM900 and RM2,000. The maximum number of shoes made per design is 15 pairs. In accordance with Lewré Couture's signature style, 36 tiny Swavorski crystals (18 on each side) are embedded in each shoe's inner sole. "Eighteen has always been a good number for us,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and we included it for feng shui reasons," Lew says. Finding the perfect fit Customers first try on a shoe. Next, the consultants take note of the customer's requirements and adjust the shoes accordingly. Height reduction (for the heel), colour scheme and type of embellishments can be done to suit the customer's needs. "There is a catalogue from which customers can choose their designs, colours and material. Our sales persons will further assist customers in choosing appropriate colours and designs. They will help you find shoes that match the occasion," explains Lew. "If they are too high, we can reduce them. We can even change the colour to suit one's needs. In a way, our customers are the designers. "As a designer brand,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], our products have to meet global standards.
