So I have a newish friend and she awesome. Our kids are the same age,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], she lives a block away,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], we have a ton in common,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], she really fun and easy to talk to.
Last night we went out for wine and I picked her up. Her husband made a comment about me wearing sneakers. It true I was wearing sneakers. We not a very fashionable town here anyway and the baby was sleeping in the room with all my clothing. The sneakers were dark gray sketchers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], not white running shoes or anything.
Anyway,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I found out from my friend that her DH and her sister have a fashion blog. I looked it up when I got home and they seem like they are very serious about their fashion blog and fashion in general. It not a mean or critical blog,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they just post stuff they like or pictures of them modeling things.
Anyway,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], of course this is not a problem for our friendship,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but it makes me so nervous to hang out with her husband again. I a total slob with no fashion sense and I really don care to improve my fashion sense or anything like that. I dress to stay warm and try to buy things that don go in and out of style.
Anyway,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I wondering how many of you would feel totally confident hanging out with people that find fashion really important and how many of you would (like me) be a wee bit intimidated by that.
This is really no big deal to me,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I just wonder what other people think and I want to know which ones of you are stylish!
I had a best friend for many years whose passion,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and eventual career was fashion. She accepted me as I am,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and yes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], helped me! We had a theory: everyone has an effect on people. What is your effect? Hers was that everyone comes out of a relationship with her a little better dressed. Mine is that everyone comes out of a relationship with me with a finer appreciation of chocolate.
I wore tennies to the office. She put on her nicest high heels for the long walk to the office, because she was on display,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], then change to lesser shoes for work. Years into the friendship she confessed that she judges on shoes. I asked how we ever got to be friends. "Well obviously, I got over it!"
