Wall Street continues its up and down pattern
NEW YORK, June 6 () -- U.S. stock markets closed with gains Thursday, as a new pattern of ups and downs has replaced a giddy seven-month rally.Japan's Nikkei 225 index has undergone a correction -- a 10 percent drop or more from a recent peak. The Dow Jones industrial average had posted 22 closing highs since the first of the year, before going into an up-and-down cycle during which it was down in six of its last sessions and up in five.On Thursday, the Dow gained 80.03 points, 0.53 percent, to 15,040.62. The Standard & Poor's 500 index added 13.66 points, 0.85 percent, to 1,622.56. The Nasdaq composite index gained 22.58 points or 0.66 percent to 3,424.05.On the New York Stock Exchange, 2,409 stocks advanced and 670 declined on volume of 3.4 billion shares traded.In Japan, the Nikkei 225 index shed 3.83 percent of 518.89 points to 12,904.02.In Britain, the FTSE 100 lost 1.3 percent or 83.20 points to 6,336.11.The 10-year treasury note rose 3/32 to yield 2.081 percent.Crude oil prices shed 5 cents to reach 94.71 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.NYMEX gold gave up $3 to reach $1,[url=http://www.parajumpersjackenoutlet.de/]parajumpers online shop[/url],412.80 per troy ounce.On currency markets, the euro fell to $1.324 from $1.3246.
