Australians have big day at Hurley Pro at Trestles surf tourney
LOWER TRESTLES, Calif., Sept. 18 () -- Taj Burrow won the Hurley Pro at Trestles in California Wednesday, but Mick Fanning moved to the top of the Association of Surfing Professionals standings.Burrow won his first ASP tour event of the season by besting fellow Australian Julian Wilson in the final heat by a score of 17.07 to 15.97 in the 2-to-4 foot waves at the famed Lower Trestles surf break on the Orange-San Diego County line."I felt like the good waves came my way and I was just in the zone," said Burrow, who now has an even dozen career ASP wins. "I was hoping to get things snowballing and I never felt like I put together my best surfing."The win moved Burrow into fourth place in the ASP standings.
