Police locate truck in fatal Harriman hit,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
Monday death of Alicia Gilreath of Harriman. Gilreath died instantly from the impact,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], an autopsy revealed.
Gilreath was walking along Emory Road near the intersection with Cumberland Street after arguing with her boyfriend. As she walked home,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], she was struck and her body was flung about 15 feet from the well-traveled road and into a weed-filled ditch.
Heidle said her body was not visible from the road. the next day,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], however,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], an unidentified man called the Roane County E-911 Center from a pay telephone to report the body.
Heidle said media attention to the case resulted in the citizen's tip that led his department to the truck. The truck,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], he said,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], displayed the damage expected from the impact with the woman.
"It had not been repaired,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but in the bed of the truck it had parts to do the repairs,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," Heidle said. Those parts included a truck grill,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], hood and fender.
The chief said he intends to continue the probe and present evidence to a Roane County grand jury for an indictment in the case,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
