Foot of rain forces LPGA to reduce event in the Bahamas to 54 holes
PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas, louboutin shoes, May 22 () -- The LPGA Tour Wednesday announced this week's event in the Bahamas would be reduced from 72 to 54 holes due to torrential rains that struck the course.Almost a foot of rain fell on the Ocean Club Golf Club in an 8-hour period Tuesday, leaving much of the course under water. The ninth and 18th fairways were flooded from tee to green. The tournament had been scheduled to begin Thursday, but the opening round was postponed until Friday."The damage to the golf course and structures caused by Tuesday's heavy rain and winds was extensive and we are working around the clock to repair damages and drain the golf course so that we can present a first-class event for the LPGA," Tournament Director Matt Truax said.Wednesday's pro-am was canceled and rain was in the forecast for Thursday.
