Knocking down cancer
An event that got its beginnings in Mississauga last year has grown across Canada to 86 bowling centres in the hopes of raising $250,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],000 for breast cancer awareness this month.

Throughout January,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the bowling alley is donating 25 cents from every pink shoe rental to the Canadian Cancer Society. All bowling shoes, pins and balls are pink in support of breast cancer awareness.
Mississauga-Erindale MP Bob Dechert bowled at the event and spoke about the importance of volunteering to take a stand against cancer,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Classic Bowl director Edward Sousa said last year's event at the Dundas St. W. bowling centre raised $5,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],000. It was so popular that other centres asked to get involved,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and this year,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it spread across the country to 86 bowling centres. It's hoped in the years to come that it will spread internationally.
Sousa said the campaign also features the sale of pink T-shirts,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], pink baby bowling shoes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], pink mini pins and pink balls.
All 16 lanes of the popular family bowling alley are using pink pins and balls for the month-long awareness campaign,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
The bright pink shoes seemed to get bowlers perked up for the afternoon event,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Sousa came up with the campaign after being inspired by the National Football League,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which each October runs a campaign to support breast cancer awareness. Players wear pink cleats, gloves and chin straps,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and even the footballs have pink ribbon decals.
